Control Windows using Group Policy Object Editor (gpedit.msc)

Many of the People don’t Know about Group Policy Object Editor (gpedit.msc) ,where you can Control Windows Function activities in very simple manner.

With this tool you can control actvities of users,and speed up Windows Vista or Windows XP by disabling some resources,services which you don’t require anymore.

1.This tool can be accessed from Run command (Windows Key + R )

2.In this tool Only some options are helpful,there you see Computer Configuration and User Configuration.

In this Only Administrative templates in each of the category is very helpful in tuning our system as we wish.

Control Windows using Group Policy Object Editor

You can enable or disable any function like in screen shot. (Right click on Function > Properties)

Then You will get a Windows box like this. Where you can configure that function.

Here i am giving some functions where we can easily configure them with Group Policy Object Editor (gpedit.msc)

1.Turn off Complete PC backup functionality

2.Limit reservable bandwidth

3.Prevent installation of removable devices

4.Turn off Windows Device Driver Update

5.Turn off Windows Error reporting

6.Turn off Internet file Association service

7.Deny Read or Write Access to CD/DVD Drives,Floppy Drives,Removable Disks.

8.Turn off Auto play.

9.Prevent backup to Local disks or CD/DVD.

10.Disable Desktop Visual Experience like Task bar Thumbnails,Flip3D Tab View.

11.Disable Windows Installer

12.Turn off Windows Sidebar

13.Turn on Only Recommended updates via Automatic updates.

14.Prohibit Access to Control panel

15.Specifies the desktop background (“wallpaper”) displayed on all users’ desktops.

16.Prohibit Users from Adding,Closing,Deleting items form Desktop

17.Prohibit access to Properties of LAN Connection

18.Add Run Command to Start menu

19.remove frequent programs list from start menu.

20.Lock Desktop
