Facts about worldwide software piracy!

According to a recent Global Software Piracy Study BSA (Business Software Alliance) revealed the following facts.
- As PC market growing strong in countries like India, China . PC software piracy is also growing in same proportion.
- Average losses to IT industry worldwide from software piracy is about $50 billion every year (in 2008 it is about $50.2 billion).
- Though USA has the lowest rate of software piracy in the world about 20%. But it has the largest losses from piracy about $9.1 billion. Because it is by far the world’s largest software market.
- And in a 2006 study, it is found that 29 percent of Web sites and 61 percent of peer-to-peer sites offering pirated software tried to infect test computers with “Trojans,†spyware, keyloggers, and other tools of identity theft.
- The lowest-piracy countries are the United States, Japan, New Zealand, and Luxembourg, all near 20 percent. The highest-piracy countries are Armenia, Bangladesh, Georgia, and Zimbabwe, all over 90 percent.
- The highest-piracy regions are Central/Eastern Europe (67 percent) and Latin America (65 percent). The lowest regions are North America (21 percent) and the European Union (35 percent).
